Italo Calvino (1923 – 1985) was one of the most important Italian writers of the late 20th century. His whimsical and imaginative fables introduced ideas and concepts that are still inspiring contemporary writers and performers.
As 2023 is the centenary of the writer, Calvino Bits is a project launched by the Italian Cultural Institute Hong Kong and the Dante Alighieri Society in Hong Kong to celebrate this visionary writer.
The project features a series of video reading excerpts from the selected works of Italo Calvino in Cantonese and Italian. The use of artificial intelligence in the series provides a new angle to interpret Calvino’s work from a contemporary point of view.
Selected works:
- The Distance of the Moon
- Invisible Cities
- The Baron in the Trees
- If on a Winter’s Night a Traveller
