Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books is the theme for the XX Week of the Italian Language in the World (October 19-25, 2020). To celebrate this special occasion, the Dante Alighieri Society in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, has decided to guide you to the most iconic and representative Italian comics.
Italy has a long tradition of Comics books and Graphic novel, that have accompanied generations of young and grown up readers and shaped the Italian literature and pop culture very deeply.
From the monthly teen comics to the most artistic ones, from the political and social graphic novel to the most innovative ones appeared on the web.
Join us in this long journey made of “Fumetti” and colors.
STRUCTURE
The workshop has 4 lessons, 2 hours each, total 8 hours.

22 Sep 2020, 7-9 pm – The commercial comic books – Bonelli publisher, from Tex Willer to Dylan Dog
29 Sep 2020, 7-9 pm – The artistic comics – Crepax, Hugo Pratt and Manara
06 Oct 2020, 7-9 pm – Beyond comics – Andrea Pazienza and Gipi
13 Oct 2020, 7-9 pm – Comics in the digital age – Zerocalcare and Co.
After the workshop, on Tue 20 Oct 2020, we will have a video-interview with a young Italian graphic novelist Ilaria Palleschi, author of the comic book “Nina che disagio!”
