Have you ever wondered when the Italian language was born? What is the origin of the Romance languages? And above all, do you know how did the transition from Latin to the modern Romance languages take place? To find out, on the occasion of Dantedì, March 25th, our Latin tutor John Whelpton will take us to the fascinating discovery of the changes that have marked the passage from Latin to the Romance languages we speak today.
About John Whelpton
Dr. John Whelpton is a tutor of Latin and ancient Greek and also an independent researcher specialising in the history and politics of Nepal. Moving to Hong Kong from Britain in 1987, he worked mainly as a secondary school English teacher until 2010. He was formerly associated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong and has been teaching for Dante since 2012.
