Extra Virgin Olive Oil Masterclass: History, taste, and benefits of the liquid gold of Italy

On the occasion of the VIII Week of Italian Cuisine in the World (13 to 19 November 2023) focused on the quality and benefits of the Italian products, Dante Alighieri Society Hong Kong, in collaboration with Towngas Cooking Center and the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong, is thrilled to announce the “Extra Virgin Olive oil Masterclass: History, taste and benefits of the liquid gold of Italy”.

This year’s edition will celebrate the theme “At the Table with Italian Cuisine: Health with Taste”, and we could not but choose the ingredient that makes every Italian dish healthy and delicious at the same time: Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Known as the “liquid gold” by Homer and “the great healer” by Hippocrates, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) has been always praised for its positive effects on health for centuries, and Italy is indeed one of the leaders and major producers of olive oil in the world.

The event will be held in two days. The first event is a Free Seminar presented by the wine and oil specialist, Paolo Ponghellini, including an Olive Oil tasting provided by Tenute San Fabiano. The second appointment will be a demonstration with a professional chef preparing three dishes where olive oil is the main protagonist.
